This is actually the starting point of the exercise I described here. This paper is where I found the reference to the Praxil/General Anxiety Disorder story.
Dmitriy Yuryev is a one man dissident crusade against scientific fraud. You have to make allowances for his use of English. It's not his first language and his English is certainly a hell of a lot better than my Russian!
In any case - this paper details the history of how the news of discovery of Helicobacter Pylori was effectively suppressed for almost 14 years - using the "falsification by omission" technique mentioned elsewhere.
In any case, the net result was $32 billion dollars worth of un-necessary sales of Zantac which benefited GlaxoSmithKline enormously, at the expense of the unnecessary death and suffering of millions of ulcer patients who could have been cured (not merely had symptoms suppressed for a while) for about $20 worth of generic antibiotics.
