And here is another gross abuse of power.
Andy Bathie entered into a private but legal agreement with two lesbians. He donated the sperm necessary for them to have a child. They agreed that he would not be held liable for any costs or other responsibilities in respect of the child.
That contract was entered into on a free and informed basis by all parties. The women split up.
The State, in the shape of the Child Support Agency, decides to go after Andy for child maintenance. The State, in other words, has decided that their private, legal and freely entered into contract can be ignored by their bureaucrats.
And they didn't even have to go to court to impose this illicit fine. Yet to challenge it, Andy has to find the thousands of pounds it would take to employ his own silk. Which he can't afford and he is not entitled to legal aid.
It is difficult to think of a more egregious abuse of power. Under democracy, this will not be legal. It is a good example of something which is "levil" under the existing system but clearly illicit.
